Opening of Sunken City in Daylight Hours

We request that Sunken City be opened up during the daylight hours (dawn to dusk) for all to enjoy. In the evenings especially, the area needs to be policed by lighting, cameras and police ticketing . Furthermore, we request that the existing fence be maintained to protect homeowners whose property rims the area.

Why is this important?

I'm a member of Point Fermin Residents Group, and opening up Sunken City for public use would enable all residents to enjoy the area legally. It's time for the community to take back this treasure. Opening the area would assist with cutting down on the problems that plague the area, along with support by law enforcement.

Reasons for signing

  • I visited once with a out of town friend, this area is very surreal. It was brimming w/other people when we were there. Maybe, two yrs ago. I hope this site gets cleaned up/opened to the public. The fact there is a broken fence there - seems to be part of why it is such a popular place. It's nice to sit on the flat slabs that have been warmed by the sun.
  • Please email me with updates on this petition. I really want to visit this site once its opened.
  • I grew up in San Pedro and visit every couple of years--I always include a visit to Pt. Fermin. I remember picnics in park and playing in Sunken City and climbing down the cliffs to play on the rocks and trying to catch a baby octopus with the help of people fishing down there--I believe opening Sunken City would be a very nice extension of Pt. Fermin Park.
