Oppose HR 1953: Treat and Reduce Obesity Act of 2017

HR 1953 seeks to institutionalize overweight/obese people in behavior modification programs by diverting funds from Social Security to cover the cost of institutionalizing overweight people in abusive behavioral health facilities and programs. This is unacceptable and must be voted against by ALL legislators who expect to be re-elected.

Why is this important?

I am a survivor of institutional abuse and aversive therapy. I believe no public money should be used to abuse, falsely imprison, and torture Americans. I am the co-founder of HEAL and I work with many individuals diagnosed with eating disorders who have been tortured in behavioral health facilities. This bill, introduced by Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-MN) will divert public funds to fraud and abuse and must be rejected by the House, Senate, and vetoed by the President if it reaches his desk.
