Oppose Mandatory Police Reporting Bills

Forcing sexual assault survivors into police reporting can be extremely damaging and silencing, and should be considered a breach of Title IX in that it compromises a person's learning environment. It takes power away from survivors, discourages survivors from coming forward, and creates a general climate of distrust and anxiety. In addition, forcing survivors into the criminal process has the high potential of re-traumatizing them.

Why is this important?

Because no survivor should have to endure unjust interruptions in their education or be forced to exist in an environment where their autonomy and safety are not priorities.
