Oppose "The View" Hiring Brooke Shields as a Host

We oppose the hiring of under-qualified, untalented, and undeserving Brooke Shields as a co-host of "The View" and pledge to boycott the show if she is hired in this position. In addition to having no performing talent, Shields is an ultra-conservative supporter of Newt Gingrich whose fame comes largely through the money of her land developer father, whose developments have been ecologically destructive. She is a very inappropriate role model for women, as any success she ever had has been based on an unhealthy model of thinness known to cause anorexia and bulemia in women and girls. Ms. Shields could not control herself from dropping the "F bomb" while co-hosting the Tony Awards, and has made multiple inappropriate statements, including publicly admitting recurrent desires to harm her first child and comments expressing an unhealthy obsession with her virginity. She certainly is not worthy of a show that has hosted the president of the United States. ABC already made bad choices in canceling "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" and replacing them with boring reality shows. We ask they please not ruin "The View" by hiring a vapid, undeserving host.
