Overhaul the VA
For years veterans, U. S. Courts, and the Media have exposed problems at the VA across country that require attention and action. Congressman John Lewis has a long and continued practice of coming to Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 883's meetings and activities where he heard and addressed the cries of veterans and their families in Atlanta, GA. Both the Claim Process and Medical Treatment Systems at the VA are broken and ill equipped to meet the needs of the veteran population, and fulfill its mission. The time for change is now, and this is the first step. We are petitioning Congressman John Lewis to keep his word and help veterans Overhaul the VA. We need his leadership here.
Why is this important?
As a Vietnam Combat Veterans who must be classified as one of the "returning wounded" from that generation and VA Service Rep for over 30 years, that was medically retired from VA Employment, I was at a meeting on July 30, 2012 with Congressman John Lewis, where issues about the Atlanta VA were discussed and the Congressman promised to start hearings on these complaints. This petition is to get the Congressman to keep his promise to start these hearings, and thereafter introduce a Bill to Overhaul the VA. The courts, veterans' complaints and the media have provided evidence of this need for years. The time for action is now.
