Overturn Citizens United
We the people have had it. Corporations are not people. Elections should not be auctions, and we refuse to let our democracy be put up for sale. We are standing together to call for a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United.
Why is this important?
Citizens United and other recent court decisions have opened the floodgates to big money influence in our democracy, giving special interests and the wealthy more control over our government and economy than they’ve enjoyed since the Gilded Age of the late 19th century.
Backed by a geyser of money supplied by ultra-wealthy donors and corporations, radical right-wing extremists swept Senate and House races across the country.
The domination of politics by corporations and the mega-rich is a profound threat to democracy and freedom in the United States, and we have to fight back.
Now, together with more than 50 organizations, MoveOn.org and partners at Common Cause, Free Speech For People, Money Out Voters In, People For the American Way, and Public Citizen are working to gather five million petition signatures calling for an amendment. These millions of petitions will send a strong message to members of Congress, the media and general public.
