Overturning Re'Shawn's DOC Conduct Report

Re’Shawn deserves to reunite with his family. My heart aches as I write this, brimming with the emotions of a family torn apart by decisions that seem unjust and unnecessary. Re’Shawn has been away from home for several years now, incarcerated at the Indiana Department of Corrections (DOC), and during this time, we’ve experienced significant family changes. His grandmother, to whom he's very close, has fallen seriously ill, and she yearns for her grandson, whose presence would provide her much-needed comfort in these tough times.
Re’Shawn’s anticipated release date was unjustly delayed due to conduct report B207 for possession of a device. The infraction stemmed from his use of Corrio SPC, a service that is indeed DOC-approved in Indiana. He trusted and adhered to the guidance provided by adding the Corrio SPC number to his phone list, unknowing that this could lead to a severe penalty. The absence of clearer guidelines regarding approved services should not be a burden that he alone bears, especially when there was no malintent.
The Indiana DOC must reconsider the conduct report. Concrete steps should be taken, starting with a review of the procedures around approved communication services.
