I'm starting this petition because I believe the president of the United States should be elected by the popular vote and not based on the antiquated electoral college. While abolishing the electoral college is ideal it requires an amendment to the constitution the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact has already been passed into law in 10 states. It is in committee in PA and we would like to see it become law.
Why is this important?
We should not be voting via the antiquated electoral college. The popular vote should elect the next president! The compact is designed to ensure that the candidate who wins the most popular votes is elected president, and it will come into effect only when it will guarantee that outcome.
