Part-Time Pay For Part-Time Work

Congress will only be in session 129 days in 2013, up from the 107 they were in session in 2012. We, the American taxpaying public, are only getting part-time employees. It's time they were paid as part-time workers. Cut the Representatives of the U.S. congress' wages by two-thirds and take away their health care benefits. As American workers, if we only worked one-third of the time, our employers would consider us part-time and we would be paid accordingly. That means no benefits either. Even when they are in session, we get nothing for our money. It's time they saw how the average American worker is treated.

Why is this important?

Our house of Representatives is scheduled to work only about 120 days this upcoming year, up from the 107 days they were in session this year. If you're only working part-time, you should be paid as a part-time worker. Cut their pay by two-thirds and do away with their benefits. We, the U.S. taxpayer, are not getting our moneys' worth. Even when they are there, they don't do the people's work.
