DISCLOSE stands for "Democracy is Strengthened by Casting Light on Spending in Elections". The California DISCLOSE Act, SB 52, would bring transparency to California elections. SB 52 would require that the top three funders of political ads be clearly and unambiguously identified in the ads. It would apply to ballot initiative and issues advocacy ads and independent expenditures made by entities such as Super PACs. Committee websites would also have to identify their funders.
With this petition, we urge our state legislators to support the DISCLOSE Act, letting voters know who is really behind campaign ads.
