Why is this important?
There are many people in this country who don't know that we have yet to pass the Equal Rights Amendment, which would automatically guarantee equal rights for the women of the United States. The ERA would make wage discrimination illegal.
The ERA would put women on an equal footing in every area, and eliminate the need for stopgap legislation. Equal treatment of women must become the law of the land. Women in this country are still not legally the equal of men; we have fewer rights than gay men, black, white, red and yellow men. The time has come to support your mothers, sisters, wives, friends and lovers. Let's get the ERA passed.
