Allow federal tax filers to check a box that sends $3.00 of their refund to pay down the federal debt. The $3.00 can go to pay down education, defense, or social programs. Each party assigns independent observers, equal number, and the GAO reports the results to the American people by July 4th. Let us take the special interest money out and give the people direct representation through taxation.
Why is this important?
As citizens we should have some small measure of control over where our tax money goes. The more we direct these funds ourselves the less the politicians can squander.
