Hospitals do not perform tests on uninsured patients that are not obviously dying. When they make it to my hospital they are so far gone (usually from cancer), they may have had a chance if only they had a better way to see a doctor.
Why is this important?
People are dying just because they are poor. When will we recognize the fact that each life is important, and not connected to your financial worth or ability to buy insurance. We need universal healthcare. It’s time to step up. People are dying right now.
