Petition Against The Separation of Families

A group of dedicated California Educators came together during the summer to develop and hone our craft. One development was this petition and we, the undersigned, deem the practice of separating the children of immigrants from their families cruel and illegal. These separations are a violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We call upon the US government to immediately take the following actions:

Permanently halt the cruel, costly, and unjustified separation of families seeking protections at our borders as called for in SB3036.

2. Unify families that have been separated

3. Provide asylum for the families of the children who have been separated by the US government.

Sincerely,
California Educators, Activists and Artists

Why is this important?

The President has signed an executive order immediately ending the separation of children from their parents at the border. There is the SB 3036 "Keep Families together Act" being put forth to the Committee of the Judiciary by Senator Dianne Feinstein. Thank you, but we need accountability for next steps for these families traumatized by these separations. We need to know how families will be reunified and that they will be granted asylum in the US to escape the trauma they are fleeing.
