This petitions initiates support for a Constitutional Amendment automatically stopping the pay for of Congress when an approved budget proposal fails to reach the President's desk by October 1st. This amendment would ensure that the Congress irrevocably loses the pay due until the approved budget reaches the President.
Why is this important?
The most basic job of the U.S. Congress is to propose a budget for Presidential approval before the beginning of the fiscal year. The entire U.S. Government continually runs on a continuing resolution because our Congress is unable to reach a compromise and establish a bipartisan and responsible budget proposal. No industry would reward their executives for such poor performance and neither should the U.S. Government.
