Petition for all US Supreme Court nominees who are not Merrick Garland to respectfully withdraw t...
Given the unprecedented abdication of responsibility and duty on the part of the US Senate, having failed to conduct the constitutionally required Advise and Consent process for US Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland, the signers herein request all current and future nominees to said position respectfully withdraw their names from consideration until such Advise and Consent hearings for nominee Merrick Garland are conducted.
Not only does this injustice and break from protocol constitute a direct attack on the independence of the judiciary, an attempt to politically manipulate the judicial branch through court-packing, but any judge who does not withdraw from consideration is tacitly endorsing such political manipulation. Therefore, such a nominee cannot, by definition, be an independent arbiter of the law. Furthermore, the unified withdrawal of all current and future nominees, deferential to the Constitutionally rightful nominee, Merrick Garland, pending the outcome of his consideration, sends a strong signal of judicial branch independence to all legislative and executive branch employees seeking to manipulate said judiciary.

Why is this important?
This blatant attempt by the legislative branch to manipulate the judicial branch is an affront to all Americans and the independence of branches of government. Allowing such manipulation to stand only encourages future abuses of power.
