To: The Democratic Party
Petition For Majority of Democrats To Withdraw From The Party By July 18th
We need a party that will work for the people, to represent the people, to actually fight for the people, to not take corporate money. We need to send a message to the Democrats that we will not support them if they will not actually be that party.
Why is this important?
We, the undersigned, are planning to remove ourselves from the Democratic party as of July 18th and no longer work towards supporting the party and its members. So long as the election fraud continues and no solution and compensation is found, so long as the party continues to take money from corporations and the rich and not represent the people, so long as voting laws continue to disenfranchise voters and make it harder to vote, you will find that we have no interest in supporting the party and will not be your saviors from the Republican Party.
The Democrats can claim they are such a party, but too much has shown they are not. They have failed to protect our civil rights (voting, privacy, due process, and much more), they have failed to prevent us from going to war and engaging in pointless military actions (Iraq, Libya, Sirya, etc), they have failed to bring campaign finance reform or truly fight hard for such (many Democrats themselves are bound to the same donors and seem to have no problem with ending), they won't work to reform our electoral system to better the voter turn out and create a better republic where we the people are actually represented (one person one vote, electoral holiday, fixing gerrymandering, etc), they won't work towards single payer health care system so we can actually have everyone covered and not put into crippling debt. The party has failed us, continues to fail us, and shows no signs of actual change.
We will no longer support the Democratic Party. We will no longer support corporatocracy. We will go elsewhere. We will stick to our principles. We will not succumb to voting for you only because you want to use the fear of the Republicans ruling and doing things you are already doing. Fear will not control us. You were never owed our vote, you have to earn it.
Note: those who must be delegates to show up to the convention should obviously wait until after, but should withdraw as well. But feel free to sign as well.
Note 2: Those of you in closed primary/election states and have a real progressive against the establishment candidate (Tim Canova vs DWS in Florida for example), please stay in the party until that election is done.
