To: The Arcata City Council, Mayor/Council Members
Petition for the Creation of a Public Assembly in Arcata, CA
We cannot save our World with Social Media alone. We have to start holding regular meetings in person. We need to form civil, organized, and determined Deliberative Assemblies which will pass Resolutions on the Issues we believe are most critical, with the intent that these Resolutions will be representative of the Will of the People of Arcata and the expectation that our Resolutions will be recognized as Democratic Law.
These Public Deliberative Assemblies will be open to as many members of the public as wish to attend, anyone may bring a motion before the Assembly, everyone will have a chance to speak on each motion, and everyone may vote.
I propose that at the next City Council Meeting a motion calling for the creation of a Public Deliberative Assembly is put before the Members of the Arcata City Council as an agenda item, and that the first order of business of this Assembly once it is established will be reaffirming the the Rights of Humanity and ensuring that our City, County, State and Country abides by these Rights once this Resolution has been ratified by the People of Arcata.
If our City Council refuses to pass this Motion, I propose that they be replaced with new City Council Members who will uphold and enforce the Rights of Humanity and the Will of the People of Arcata, as expressed by the People.
We must fully utilize out Right to Peaceably Assemble and our Right to Petition our Government for a Redress of Grievances in order to reverse the decline of our Nation and to save our World from the many evils we are faced with.
All Human Beings have an unalienable Right to Democratic Self-Governance which is endowed to them not by their Government, but by their Creator. All Human Beings also have a Responsibility to use this Right to serve the Common Good while upholding the Rights of their fellow Human Beings. Let us use this Petition as a means of fulfilling that Responsibility here in Arcata.
In the name of Democracy, may the People's voice be heard.
