Petition to Ban Political Adds from Television
In order to have a fair election, I am proposing a ban on political adds on television in America.
Most of the political adds that are aired in America, have been reduced to smear campaigns by desperate people seeking office.
These smear campaigns are detrimental to Democracy, and often steer voters to vote against their own interest.
Because of the substantial costs of running these smear campaigns on television, candidates are easily corrupted by the donors they depend on.
The Supreme Court has aggravated this situation by declaring that corporations are people , and money is speech. This , of course, encourages more corruption.
In order to attempt to limit the amount of corruption in our governing, I propose a total ban on running political advertisements on television.

Why is this important?
Political adds on television can be misleading or totally untrue. This can result in the electorate voting against their own interests.
One obvious example of this was when John Kerry, a true Vietnam War hero, was portrayed in smear campaign on TV, as a coward by the so called "Swift boat veterans for truth". The American people ultimately reelected the draft dodger and military deserter, George Bush.
Television adds are very costly. Fund-raising to pay for these adds, is the leading cause of corruption, allowing politicians to be bought, like a commodity on the market.
In Europe, political adds are not allowed on television, to prevent this type of manipulation by the powers that be.
