We urge Congress to create a resolution against presidential self-pardon. It would stipulate that a president should have to resign before their successor could issue a pardon, should the successor decide it advisable to do so.
Why is this important?
Some legal scholars currently profess uncertainty over the ability of presidential self-pardon. So a president -- regardless of the strength of evidence that they had committed a felony -- might remain in office while fighting the question in court. This could leave the country in a state of extreme disruption and paralysis.
