Petition to the Federal Government of the United States of America demanding a Moratorium on appr...
We, the People, demand the Federal Government (including the White House, the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Senate, the Federal Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture) to immediately enact a Moratorium on approvals of any and all genetically engineered products until a thorough study of potential dangers can be completed. This Moratorium will include, but will not be limited to, GE Salmon, GE crops and seeds, GE Trees, GE vaccine and genetic engineering and in vitro experimentation on human and animal embryos.
We, the People, hereby invoke the Precautionary Principle, “DO NO HARM” and ask our leaders to join us in action to stop the proliferation of genetically engineered products being allowed by government patents granted to corporate chemical biotech companies.
We, the People, hereby invoke the Precautionary Principle, “DO NO HARM” and ask our leaders to join us in action to stop the proliferation of genetically engineered products being allowed by government patents granted to corporate chemical biotech companies.
Why is this important?
When a municipality creates ordinances and takes actions via citizen votes to control the power and proliferation of Biotech companies the result is a lawsuit by the chemical corporations. While the energy of the people is tied up in battling lawsuits from Biotech, chemical companies continue to push through ever-increasing numbers of patents to make trees, fish, vaccines and other GE products. We believe it is imperative that the Federal Government take a time out to study the overwhelming evidence that Genetic Engineering involves dire risk and consequences to human and animal health, to the economy and future of sound food systems. We are demanding a Moratorium to give time for review of important studies that have recently determined that GMOs and toxic chemicals and practices used in these systems are dangerous to health, the environment, our economy and a sustainable future.
