Philadelphia City Council: Enact a Ballot Question to Reduce Money in Politics
We the undersigned, residents and taxpayers of the City of Philadelphia, hereby petition the Philadelphia City Council to enact a ballot question on the November 2013 general election ballot in support of a constitutional amendment that would:
· Establish that corporations are not people with constitutional rights
· Allow limits to be placed on political campaign spending
· Reduce the influence of money in politics
· Establish that corporations are not people with constitutional rights
· Allow limits to be placed on political campaign spending
· Reduce the influence of money in politics
Why is this important?
Our government is now controlled by corporations and their lobbyists who are more concerned with profits than people. This is negatively impacting our schools, our health and our ability to provide for our families. We need a constitutional amendment to limit the influence of money in politics so that our government works for We, the People, not the corporations.
