Picture a More Perfect Future

“Picture a More Perfect Future”

Firearms claim one life every 20 minutes in this country. Yesterday they claimed the lives of 27 people. 20 under the age 10. Yet the purchase and ownership of a gun is less regulated than cars and pets.

It’s an epidemic. A public health crisis.

It is time to put politics aside, lobbyists in their place, and save lives.

We the people, who want to form a stronger, safer union for our children, ask our federal and state representatives to draft and pass legislation that:

• Limits gun purchases to one a month.
• Bans the sale and resale of rapid-fire guns.
• Restricts the sale of high-capacity magazines.
• Imposes a universal background check for gun buyers – including private sale.
• Requires new guns to be imprinted with a microstamp as serial numbers can be erased.
• Requires a 28-daty waiting period to buy a handgun – along with a two-person accountability system that will personally vouch for the purchaser.

If you support these measures, please sign this petition. Then show your representatives who these changes are for. Inundate the Senate and House with photos of children each of us loves so dearly. Facebook, Tweet, Email, snailmail photos to them telling them to pass stricter gun controls so we call all picture a more perfect future.

Why is this important?

This morning I had to explain the senseless deaths of school children to my 10 year old son. This is the world we live in, but it's not the world I want for him.

Firearms claim one life every 20 minutes in this country. Yet the purchase and ownership of a gun is less regulated than cars and pets.

It is time to put politics aside, lobbyists in their place, and save lives. We need stricter gun controls.
