I live in Los Angeles (insert any city) where thousands of people are homeless and hungry. The city also suffers from concrete jungle blight, meaning far too much pavement without any natural settings or green-scapes and and abundance of dated and irresponsible planting practices (including grass lawns & high water demand shrubs, trees, flowers and plantings - in a desert environment)
One solution we see to alleviate pressure in all of these areas is to plant TREES.
Not just ornamental or vanity trees, instead every tree we plant would fit its own natural environment and bear some kind of Fruit - fruit, nuts, berries or offer when appropriate sustainable/harvestable lumber and/or other commercially viable options-cedar, mesquite, eucalyptus, bamboo, cork, pine, etc.)
"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago...the second best time in now."
Planting trees reduces CO2 emissions, improves air quality and stabilizes ground temperatures, increases biodiversity, and adds to the ascetic and intrinsic values of any property.
And it's the right thing to do for the next generation.
Why is this important?
Trees offer an amazing solution to many of the problems we face as a Planet by: Reducing Carbon emissions and slowing the impact of climate change, feeding our hungry and providing additional, sustainable, food and raw product sources. Let's invest in the future for ourselves, our kids and generations to come by Planting More Trees.
