In 1996, the people of Maine passed the Maine Clean Elections Act (MCEA). Today, we see an even greater need to offer candidates an alternative to relying on private donors so that they can stay committed to the people they are elected to serve. Please find a solution that will both satisfy the U.S. Supreme Court ruling and preserve the MCEA.
Why is this important?
Due to a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Maine lawmakers have to make changes to the MCEA. They are considering doing nothing, which would effectively end Clean Elections in Maine. Tell them you want them to find a solution that keeps our elections where they belong: In the hands of the Citizens of Maine.
