Police Shooting Death Inquest Process

Change the Unfair Inquest Process for Police Shooting Deaths Now

Why is this important?

On June 14, 2017, high school student Tommy Le, was fatally shot by King County sheriff’s deputy Cesar Molina. Tommy Le was unarmed. On October 12, 2017, King County Executive Dow Constantine ordered an inquest into the shooting.

The inquest is structured so that one of King County’s own prosecuting attorneys introduces all witnesses and evidence to the jury. Presently, the family and their attorneys are merely observers in this one-sided exercise. This petition is to demand a voice for Tommy Le's family, by allowing their lawyers to speak to the inquest jury. This requires King County Executive Dow Constantine to modify the unfair rules governing the inquest.

Reasons for signing

  • I always admire the established court system we have in the US where there is a due process and jury should hear from both sides. There are always two sides in a story. Please reconsider to allow the jury to hear from both sides in order to make informed decision.
  • For a boy at the start of his adult life to lose that life for holding a pen , given the trauma American has inflicted upon the homeland of so many resilient and courageous Vietnamese, is tragic. The least America can do is to prosecute this case with integrity.
  • Un arm the men in uniform!!! Especially from using military weaponry against everyday civilians...
