Preservation of National Forests
Preservation of National Forests
(a national resolution)
WHEREAS, National Forests have dwindling resources that have been sold at dramatically below market prices to wealthy corporations, often foreign entities who use our forest resources to make products that are then imported and sold back to the United States, and
WHEREAS, National Forests initially sought to develop natural resources and encourage population growth in unsettled areas but as natural resources are now most precious, the forest service mandate should be preservation for posterity, and
WHEREAS, Exploitation of forest resources by the 1% presents another transfer of wealth from the other 99% of American citizens, and
WHEREAS, exploitation of forest resources frequently results in disastrous, deadly, and costly contamination of community land, water, and air, and limits the fair usage of the forest by others.
Therefore be it resolved that the National Forests should be preserved and that all extraction processes and activities should cease including fracking, drilling, mining, grazing, hunting, and logging.

Why is this important?
The National Forest should change their mandate to Preservation, not extraction. Our national wealth from our forests is going to multinational corporations and the 1% and is being subsidized by the people with below market sales of our trees, minerals, wildlife, and grazing and oil and gas products.
