I’m writing to voice my strong objections to HB 4770 and 4771, which would take away much deserved health care benefits for the families of hard working public employees.
Tens of thousands of both public and private employees in our state have access to health care benefits for unmarried partners. Not only is this the right thing to do, but it’s also widely recognized as a best business practice throughout the nation. Employees and their families make our state stronger when health insurance is accessible to everyone in the household.
State government should not stand in the way of progress or dictate how local employers negotiate benefits with their workers. With this dangerous legislation, lawmakers would set a precedent for disturbing the separation of powers in Michigan.
Do what’s best for Michigan workers and families by voting NO on HB 4770 and HB 4771.
Why is this important?
Radical legislators in Lansing are trying again to eliminate health care benefits for unmarried partners of public employees. House Bills 4770 and 4771 will likely be up for a full vote in Michigan’s House of Representatives this week.
