President Obama and Members of Congress: Thank You for the Repeal of "Don't Ask - Don't Tell"

When brave young men and women were wounded on the battlefield in Iraq and Afghanistan, they didn't ask whether a soldier carrying them to a helicopter was gay or straight. They didn't ask about the sexual orientation of the translator who told them about an intercepted message that they were under attack. And they didn't ask about the medic who rushed them into surgery to save their lives.

Today with the repeal of "Don't Ask - Don't Tell", our brave men and women can serve openly in the United States Army regardless of their sexual orientation. We, the undersigned, thank you for the repeal of this senseless law. For the first time, thousands of American servicemen and women will not have to live a lie, and our nation will be safer because of it.

Why is this important?

Thanks to all of those responsible for the repeal of this shameful and unnecessay law.
