We would like President Obama to return to Gettysburg on the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address and deliver it again, to help inspire and unite the American people.
Why is this important?
On November 19, 1863, the Gettysburg Address was delivered by President Lincoln as part of the dedication of Soldier's National Cemetery. In just ten sentences he was able to summarize the purpose of the Civil War and inspire the Union to continue the struggle. At this time of deep division in our country, a grand gesture from our president would be of great help.
