President Obama: Pardon Chris Williams
The arrest and prosecution of Chris Williams is a terrible miscarriage of justice. President Obama, please right this wrong and pardon him.
Why is this important?
After Montana legalized medical marijuana, Chris Williams started a marijuana growing operation. Despite the Obama Justice Department's assurances that it would not prosecute people for growing marijuana within the limits of state law, Mr. Williams was raided by federal officers and arrested; during his trial, he was prohibited from using the fact that he was following state law as a defense.
While Jerry Sandusky got a 30-year minimum sentence for raping young boys, Mr. Williams is looking at a mandatory minimum of more than 80 years for marijuana charges and for possessing firearms during a drug-trafficking offense.
