The Federal Minimum Mandatory Sentences in the United States has Failed. Many non-violent drug offenders have been sentenced to life without parole. The punishment does not fit the crime. Timothy L. Tyler #99672-012 is one example, having served 22 years already at mamixum security prisons for drug offenses committed under the age of 22. Rehabilitation and drug treatment, half-way houses, work programs and job training, education, and mental health treatments are better options for this group.
