President Obama: Save Antibiotics

The World Health Organization recently released a report stating that antibiotics are losing their effectiveness throughout the world to ward off infections. One of the causes of antibiotic resistance is the overuse and misuse of antibiotics on factory farms.

President Obama should stop the overuse of antibiotics on factory farms and save antibiotics for future generations.

Why is this important?

Up to 80 percent of all antibiotics in the U.S. are sold for livestock, not people. These antibiotics are getting mixed right into the feed of healthy animals to encourage fast growth. When bacteria are exposed to these antibiotics, they develop resistance, and the resulting infections can withstand even our most powerful medicine.

President Obama has the authority to direct the FDA to stop this misuse of antibiotics on factory farms to protect our health.
