To: President Donald Trump
President Obama: Stand with Environmentalists, not the Tea Party!
Dear Mr. President,
I am writing to voice my disappointment with your recent decision to ask Administrator Jackson to withdraw the draft Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards.
Legislation on air pollution and smog reduction would have a revitalizing effect on our currently struggling economy, as businesses would be forced to buy new equipment, upgrades to existing polluting systems and put more money and ideas into new technologies and research. These are all things that you have previously said you supported.
As someone who has children in my life, I worry for the health and safety of the next generation and what any delay in action against pollution and the causes of climate change will mean to them and to future generations of Americans.
Further, I am disappointed that you would repeat Tea Party talking points in rationalizing your position. We are all well aware of how much the Republican party and its Tea Party contingency depend upon oft-repeated sound bites to over-simplify complicated issues in order to justify their own positions. And in the case of environmental stewardship, they are known to cite incorrect information and denounce scientific fact in order to manipulate the public into supporting their usually business-centered concerns. As the head of the opposing party, I look to you to offer a differing viewpoint and to reframe arguments in such a way that we, on the other side, feel we have someone out there in politics we can agree with.
Thank you for considering my points of view and concerns in this matter.
Sincerely,
Your Supporter,

Why is this important?
On Friday, September 2nd, President Obama asked Administrator Jackson of the EPA to withdraw the Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards, thereby killing, for now, any effort at decreasing air pollution and smog. We need to let him know that this kind of back-pedaling on important issues he previously said he would stand for is not appreciated by his supporters.
