President Obama: Stop Buying Guns from Assault Weapons Makers
President Obama: We urge you to issue an Executive Order, halting all Federal purchases of goods and services from companies that manufacture or sell assault weapons to civilians. We recommend that you base your definition of "assault weapon" on the text of Senator Feinstein's new assault weapons ban proposal.
Why is this important?
It's simple: President Obama can put an end to civilian assault weapon sales in America by ordering all Federal agencies to stop purchasing guns from companies (and their affiliates and subsidiaries) who manufacture or sell civilian assault weapons. Faced with the prospect of losing all their Defense Department and Federal law enforcement sales, these manufacturers and arms dealers will have no choice but to halt civilian assault weapons manufacture. They will then likely direct the NRA to support an assault weapons ban, so that they can compete in the civilian weapons market.
