To: President Donald Trump, The United States House of Representatives, and The United States Senate
Presidential Election determined by the popular vote.
This petition is in support of changing the law so that the President of the United States is elected by the Popular Vote, not the Electoral College Vote.
This way, presidential candidates would have to reach out to all voters and listen to the concerns of all voters, not just primarily those in swing states. It also would mean that all votes actually do count. After all, let's be honest. If, for example, you live in the state of Wyoming and you are a democrat, then you probably know that state always votes for the republican candidate. And as such, the electoral college from that state always goes to the republican. So why vote? For all practical purposes, you find your voter power is rendered as meaningless due to the Electoral College. However, your vote would not be rendered as meaningless if there was only the Popular Vote, where your vote would go directly to the White House rather than being eliminated through the funnel of the Electoral College. This would also force presidential candidates to focus on all states when campaigning rather than just on the swing states. Everyone would become far more engaged in the process just as they should in a true democracy Everyone matters equally. Not just those in the swing states. By the way, I'm from Wisconsin and I voted for Obama.

Why is this important?
It is about improving the democratic process of voting.
