Prince Georges County Foreclosures Highest in The State Of Maryland

Stop the foreclosures in Prince George's County, Maryland. Call for a Prince George's County foreclosure moratorium until fraudulent bank behavior is addressed effectively, bank and foreclosure legislation is introduced or changed, the local judicial system is reviewed, loan scams are curtailed, housing counseling agencies are audited, and mortgage principals are reduced. We need standard bank laws for ALL banks. Stop predatory practices, e.g., interest rates above 5%. Hold local elected officials accountable.

Why is this important?

Since 2007, our nation has been in a recession. Prince George's County is still a targeted community struggling with the highest rate of foreclosures in the state of Maryland. Countless so-called "nonprofit" agencies have absorbed millions of dollars in the name of assisting homeowners, but the money never reaches the people of Prince George's County.

Banks continue to behave fraudulently. Local judicial systems turn their heads, or perhaps they do not understand or know the laws of the courts. Elected officials won't address the issues of the people who voted them into office and built the Prince George's County community. Millions of dollars have been lost and are unaccounted for. Our leaders do not demonstrate accountability. We've seen ineffective modifications that eventually lead to foreclosure and predatory lending with exceedingly high interest rates.

This petition is a call to action to keep our homes and the land we live on in Prince George's County. STOP foreclosures. Eliminate spectators coming into our community.
