PROPERTY TAXES

Please reform the local property tax concept so that it meets the intent of our State Constitution. There is absolutely no reason not to do so because the MN Department of Revenue has the data to support a reform where all the 20 local government taxing districts could have a uniform tax burden without compromising any revenue stream to the local governments.

Why is this important?

The present property tax concept is not fair because the local tax burden is not the same for every body. Our State Constitution stipulates that a taxpayer class, such as property taxes, shall have the same tax burden. But our present property tax concept does not follow the intent of our State Constitution
