Prosecute those that willfully left animals to die during Hurricane Florence

After the evacuation it was discovered that pets were abandoned to fend for themselves during the storm while the owners for the most part were safe. In some instances the animals were locked in cages and left to drown. This is animal cruelty at its worst. There is no excuse and these people need to be prosecuted for animal cruelty and denied access to pets in the future.

Why is this important?

There is no place in a civilized country where this should be acceptable, condoned or even accepted. Laws need to be introduced to protect those that need it most.
Ghandi said and I quote; " The greatness of a nation and its moral progress, can be judged by the way its animals are treated".
We have failed as humans, failed as a nation and failed to protect our animals. The time for change is now
