As the vilification of Muslims turns to a horrifying surge in prejudicial violence, something must be done to protect and defend the most vulnerable- America's Muslim children.
School administrators at every level must be prepared for increased acts of prejudice and bullying towards Muslim children, and school-based staff must be reminded of “no tolerance” responses to such acts.
Please contact your local schools, school boards, state legislatures, the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), and the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) to urge them to be proactive and vigilant in their defense of all children, and urge your own children to be messengers of peace.
Why is this important?
As a former teacher and school-based administrator, I understand the importance of system-wide consistency in responses by school staff members to acts of bullying and intolerance.
