Protect Kids from Nuclear Radiation - Club Iwate Prefecture

We will request the following:

1. A safer and more suitable level of permitted radiation in school lunch ingredients should be adopted. We do not believe the current level set by the federal government is adequate. We request the same value as the one applied in Germany (< 4 Bq/kg(L)).

2. Radiation detectors should be provided to schools and/or school lunch providers, and monitoring of lunch ingredients should be carried out. Radiation levels at food ingredient production sites should also be published.

3. Government radiation measurement facilities and a fund for the creation of private radiation measurement facilities should be established.

4. Radiation levels at schools in Morioka-City should be monitored regularly and the results should be made public. When a radiation level of more than 0.23 micro-Sv is detected, the contaminated soil should be removed.
