SCOTUS: Protect Marriage Equality & Same-Sex Marriage

Ten years after the historic Obergefell v. Hodges decision guaranteed marriage equality for same-sex couples, that fundamental right is under threat again. The Supreme Court is set to consider whether to hear an appeal that could overturn Obergefell and allow states to ban same-sex marriage once more.

We choose justice, and the side of hundreds of thousands of gay couples whose rights and families depend on the continued protection of marriage equality. A grand majority of Americans—nearly 3 out of 4—support people's right to marry who they choose. Yet extremists continue trying to roll back hard-fought progress.

Removing the right to marriage equality would cause untold harm to LGBTQ+ families and our communities across the country. Love is love, and all families deserve dignity, respect, and equal protection under the law.

We call on the Supreme Court to reject any attempt to undermine the Obergefell decision and/or diminish the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans.

Sign the petition NOW to demand SCOTUS defend marriage equality.

Why is this important?

Marriage equality is critically important because it provides LGBTQ+ individuals and families with vital legal, emotional, and social protections.

The ability to marry influences how couples support each other, providing easier paths to share resources, caregiving responsibilities, and family decisions.

Challenging marriage equality would put hundreds of thousands of families at risk—undermining their rights, hurting their children, and returning society to a time of greater inequality, stigma, and vulnerability for LGBTQ+ Americans. This isn't just about marriage; it's about the fundamental dignity and protection of families across the country.
