We urge you to vote against any bill that places additional barriers to a citizen's right to vote in New Hampshire. You will be taking up legislation in an upcoming hearing that will require voters to present a limited number of ways to prove identity. This provision will adversely affect our seniors, minorities, disabled, and low income citizens, who are the most likely to be without the required photo ID. There is no evidence that voter fraud is rampant in New Hampshire or that the communities that will be most affected commit voter fraud. Protect our right to vote by not supporting SB 289.
You will also be taking up SB 318, which makes changes to our voter registration forms. These changes are unnecessary and can only be seen as an attempt to intimidate certain citizens who wish to register to vote.
Please protect our most fundamental right—the right to vote—by voting against SB 289 and SB 318.
Why is this important?
The NH House Election Law Committee will take up two pieces of legislation that will make major changes to NH election law. SB 289 will require photo identification to be presented at the polling location and SB 318 will make changes to our voter registration forms.
