Protect Oakmont, PA from Oil and Gas Drilling!

Since 2006, the number of wells in our county has increased from 3 to 141 and the need for protection is now!

Oakmont Council must pass an ordinance that protects the health, safety, and welfare of the residents in Oakmont from the harms of oil and gas drilling, including fracking.

I say no to the proposed ordinance as it stands -- and support amendments that would increase setbacks to 2,000 ft, eliminate the Borough exemption, and provide for all Oil and Gas infrastructure in industrial zones only!

Why is this important?

Citizens to Protect Oakmont is a volunteer-led group working to protect Oakmont from oil and gas drilling in our community. Last year, CPO and Food & Water Watch succeeded in installing a pending ordinance that would protect our community from the harms of Oil and Gas Drilling, but now Oakmont Borough Council is looking to enact an ordinance that could open up Oakmont to oil and gas drilling in residential areas.

We need to push Council to reject this ordinance and amend to increase setbacks, eliminate the Borough exemption and provide for all Oil and Gas Infrastructure in industrial zones only. Council will be voting to adopt these changes on October 9th unless we take action to have our voices heard.
