Protect the Rights and Privacy of Autistic Americans!

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wants to implement a national registry to track every American diagnosed with autism. This is a dangerous overreach that threatens the private information of millions of Americans, with no clear scientific purpose.

The National Institutes of Health—the agency tasked with collecting private medical data—has yet to clarify if data will be scrubbed to protect patient anonymity or if patients can opt out.

In Illinois, Governor JB Pritzker signed an executive order blocking state agencies from sharing autism-related data outside of the state without consent from parents or guardians.

We need governors nationwide to follow in Pritzker's footsteps and prevent the federal government from accessing private medical data without permission, setting a dangerous precedent. Sign the petition now >>

Why is this important?

RFK Jr. has spouted reckless conspiracy theories about autism for years—spreading dangerous lies about links between autism and vaccines and calling autism a "preventable disease" that “destroys” lives, which experts say is unfounded and stigmatizing.

Most recently, he's made promises to "find the cause" of autism by September of this year. But experts say that the lack of clarity around how data will be collected, shared, maintained, and tested for accuracy raises red flags.

Rather than including the communities most impacted by RFK JR.'s proposal, federal health agencies have repeatedly excluded autistic people and those with disabilities from the conversation, deepening a sense of mistrust.

We need states to intervene, protecting Americans' medical data and stopping RFK Jr.’s dangerous stigmatization of autistic and disabled people. Add your name!
