Protect the environment and support rural communities in this year’s Farm Bill

Protect the environment and support small towns and family farms in this year’s Farm Bill.

Why is this important?

The Farm Bill is the most important piece of legislation for rural America. But its future could hinge on a key meeting in early February between two adversaries: House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Collin Peterson (D-MN).

The Farm Bill funds critical programs that create rural jobs and revitalize rural communities. Yet some Republicans support using the bill to slash investments in the future of small towns and family farms. They even aim to cut the Conservation Stewardship Program, which prevents farmers and ranchers from being able to improve soil and water conservation.

This has gone too far. Tell Congressman Boehner and Congressman Peterson to protect the environment and support small towns and family farms in this year’s Farm Bill.
