Protect Video Gaming In Illinois

Stop the proposed tax increase on small businesses with video gaming. Help show them our Power in Numbers.

Why is this important?

Illinois Video Gaming is one of the most advanced, entertaining and successful industries of its kind in the entire country. WE STRONGLY URGE THAT THE CURRENT LAWS AND RULES STAY THE SAME. Over the last three years, it has generated double-digit INCREASES in TAX receipts for STATE and LOCAL GOVERNMENT. The main reason for its unprecedented success is currently being threatened in the State Capitol. We call upon the Governor and the leaders in the State Legislature to form a task force to fully evaluate any proposed changes that would disrupt this burgeoning industry and leading funding source to the Illinois Capital Projects Fund -- the source dedicated to adequately funding the repair and reconstruction of the state’s crumbling roads, bridges and schools. The task force should be comprised of interested stakeholders, should hold hearings throughout the State, should solicit input from the public, and should publicize its findings widely.

Reasons for signing

  • Without video gaming income our wine café would not survive, and it has become a classy meeting place in our little town for middle-aged and older citizens. We offer many events for people of all ages, employ 12 people, and contribute to many local charities, not to mention local taxes. With the upcoming hike in the minimum wage, we cannot also afford a tax hike.
  • You already have nearly put us out of business when the minimum wage hits. We will probably close at least 2 stores by July 2019. We will also close more stores as that increase eats up our profits. Tell these unemployed works how great minimum wages increases are. Now you want to raise the tax on gaming parlors? That will result in us closing the rest of our stores and 65 employees will be let go as we go out of business entirely.
  • Governor Pritzker, Please do not hobble small business with video gaming by increasing taxes or by giving sports betting only to big, corporate casino operators. Small business need your support in both ways - don't raise VGT taxes and let license holders have a sports book kiosk in their establishments.
