Protection of Bermuda's billfish during critical spawning periods

Longline catch records show that adult blue marlin are being caught in the greatest concentrations, during the period of the year when they should be spawning. Blue marlin spawn primarily from March through June with peak spawning in April and May.

Conservationists worry that they are being unsustainably fished, particularly in the Atlantic.

Please sign this petition if you agree that billfish should be protected by the Bermuda government during critical periods of spawning (March to June).

Why is this important?

In the wake of the recent blue marlin catch in Bermuda, do you think the Bermuda government should protect this species during critical spawning periods (March to June) considering conservationists worry that they are being unsustainably fished, particularly in the Atlantic?
