Protest CNN 247 News coverage of Donald Trump by Boycotting

Many would agree with the fact that there has been a shift in the focus of the American elections from constructive policy to an emphasis on petty insults. The new election diva, Donald Trump, has earned around 2 billion dollars, through a FREE MEDIA. But the question is, how a media can be termed as "free", if its emphasis is only on gossiping, instead of highlighting the facts.

Instead of highlighting facts and figures about various Republicans and Democrats running in the election, the news channels instead focus on running news which would bring in maximum amount of ratings due to its controversial nature. The basic aim of news channels have become to gain attention from the public through sensationalizing every single news item they get their hands on. A perfect example of this could be the Donald Trump case, where, whatever he says is at first highlighted by the media and is then analyzed by top news anchors throughout the day. The point here is that the American population deserves more than a chunk of gossip stories being thrown at them in the name of “news”, instead they are worthy of being shown accurate facts about any issue surfacing the media.

As explained by a guest who was speaking to Chris Como on CNN on its News Day, "The reason Donald Trump is winning is because CNN is talking about him day and night" and that is actually quite true. For a time period of 10 months, CNN has totally ignored factual news, and has instead focused only on showcasing what Trump had to say and not just that, but also invite top level anchors to analyze his speech. Many important news, such as the one where children were forced to drink water with lead in it, have barely been mentioned on CNN since this Trump drama has commenced.

Nearly every single question being asked from the audience, by the CNN anchors, is now somehow related to what Trump said or did. When hosting the republican debate on CNN, every question being asked by Wolf from the republicans, was based on Trump’s moves and speeches. There is little or no details given by the news media about Trump’s policy or standings, even if there is, they are so vague and incomplete that the audience can hardly understand it.

Fact is that we deserve something much better than this, we’re not fools or illiterate people who would be satisfied by the gossip provided to us in the name of news, rather we’re a lot of fully educated people who demand constructive news. Trump has alone gained more coverage as compared to the other 14 republicans running for the election, combined. The only air time given to coverage of another republican, Hillary, was to ask about emails which Bernie answered best by saying "American people are tired of hearing about your damn emails!" at a Democratic debate.

The truth is that while CNN has broadcasted every single word said and every move taken by Trump, on the other hand, it has largely ignored people like Barnie despite the swell of grass roots behind him. What we demand is that CNN gives each person equal and fair run time on the news instead of focusing their cameras on just one person and his ideology.

Why is this important?

It's unfair
