Before we do any further damage to the United States economy, we need to immediately raise the debt ceiling. Once this is accomplished, our government needs to continue to work towards long-term debt reduction by:
1. Increasing government revenue with tax increases on the wealthiest 2% of Americans.
2. Reducing military spending.
If we raise taxes on the wealthy and reduce military spending, we will be able to protect social programs such as Social Security and Medicare while bringing down our debt.
